Archive for 'air filter'

Hi guys, i was at jiffy lube earlier, i asked for an oil change and they also changed my air filter… on the sheet it says Signature SVC Full Syn, im guessing it’s the new oil.. but a little below that it says PZL Synthetic 5w30 55 Gal…

My question is… both of them is correct right..?
Also… would the car go faster with this 70 dollar oil i requested? and how does changing the air filter works?

I have a 2007 Pontiac G5 GT Automatic that is rated to get 32miles to the gallon highway and 24 miles to the gallon city. I drive 90% of the time highway and SOMETIMES can get 20mpg. The average on the computer is almost always around 18 or 19. It requires 91 or better, I always use 91. The air filter has been replaced regularly, I run a 5w30 synthetic oil that I change regularly. It has never gotten good gas mileage. It has 37,000 miles on it now. I read reviews on the car and 20 other people, the first thing they said is "great gas mileage". I wish I got it… I have a jeep wrangler with a 4.0liter that gets better gas mileage on highway!
Yes, it does require 91 or better in the 2.4liter GT G5. When I put 87 or 89 it knocks and pings, the book and gas cap both say use 91.

The Mindblower and similiar performance chips are a total scam. they cost about 10 cents to make and have a 3 cent resistor inside. It cannot POSSIBLY do anything they promise it can. The most it will do is decrease your cars ability to run smoothly, and MIGHT feel a little more powerful at first, due it running above what is safe from the "modules" interence, and it will, in 100% of cars, cause engine damage over time. Moderate to Major problems that will costs you hundreds if not more to fix. This device is scientifically IMPOSSIBLE. Esitmated about 80% of their feedback comes from their employee’s or disbrutors who they require to purchase their products on ebay to leave a positive feedback.
Also this device will void most any Dealer Warranty.

If you seriously want to SAFELY improve your car’s horsepower, get some platinum gapless spark plugs…nice and cheap horse power boost that you WILL feel and is SAFE for your car.

If you seriously want to increase the gas mileage of your car, clean and change your oil, oil filter, and air filter regulary as required. That alone does wonders for mileage and engine life. Also K&N makes GREAT air filters that will add 1-4 mpg for most vehicles, i got 2mpg more on my truck and 5 on my sedan. And they only cost -50 bucks and last forever as long as you clean them by the instructions.

This "mindblower" is a total scam, snake oil in a box, dont be fooled by "fake reviews." use your common sense on this one and if in doubt as a CAR DEALER MECHANIC, or a PERFORMANCE SHOP, they will tell you the same things.

I have a 2002 chevy tracker with 120,000+ miles. It needs a new compessor for the a.c. and timing belts/chains replaced. Will soon need new tires and routine 120,000+ miles maintenance ( plugs, all filters, drain and replace all fluids, etc. ) It’s a nice vehicle and has only had brakes and front end alignment done ( other than stuff like oil change, air filter, fuel filter, simple stuff like that ). I am debating whether or not to trade it in. I only owe about 00 on it yet. But it seems it’s easier to buy a new car, with no cash on hand, then it is to find a mechanic who will do all this work on a credit/payment arrangement. My current car payment is 5. I could probably go 0. I am struggling with this decision. My sister says it’s "a buyer’s market" with all the recent dealerships closings and that "they are trying to get rid of their inventory before they are the next to close".
What would you do? I also welcome any opinions on good used vehicles to chose from. It must have 4 wheel drive, but not a gas hog. Something along the lines of the chevy tracker…a small to midsize SUV. I have the consumer reports book that helps some,,but my first instinct was the Jeep Liberty and it got lousy reviews. The Hyundai’s got pretty good reviews and also the Subaru’s. So, what do you think?
All answers and advice will be appreciated.

I live in NY so the vehicle inspection is . I got a synthetic oil change, 120 point inspection, full tune up, replaced air filter, replaced brake pads. Basically a 30k mile maintenance. I have a 2005 Honda Accord. I am just wondering if I paid too much.
APprox. how much would all that cost?

Thanks
