Okay, I know JIffy Lube is a joke. But I needed an oil change very badly and I dont have time to schedule an appointment and drop off my car for a whole day elsewhere. They tried to upsell me on all the usual crap and of course I laughed at them, but when they offered the transmission service at instead of the usual 9 … I accepted.
What they did NOT tell me was that it was a transmission FLUSH with no filter change! I had no idea what was going on until my brother told me the next day. My 2000 Honda Accord has 80,000 miles on it, so I guess it could withstand the useless flush?? But what about not changing the filter?? Omg, I’m so furious. They even admitted it and laughed at me like "yep, we got you."
I can’t really afford another 0 plus for another transmission service somewhere else just to change the filter ….. so am I okay to wait until like 100K miles and then get a real transmission fluid change WITH filter?? Or do I need to pay for Jiffy Lube’s dishonesty right away and get the new filter? (plus another unneeded fluid change)

Thanks for your help!

Okay so I have a 01 Buick Century. I get the oil changed every three months, and I use synthetic. My last oil change was in late May, and I checked the oil today and on the dipstick it was not even close to the first circle. How the heck would my car be that low on oil? Also would it be cool just to add oil instead of doing a change. Cause a freakin oil change cost me 70 bucks so its gonna have to wait about two weeks. Please help and thanks :)
Okay Im sorry to sound stupid, but my dipstick has four circles and the oil doesn’t even come up to the bottom circle. It barely even wet the dipstick. So that means I am only one quart low? Sorry I don’t know crap about cars.
0kay. Thank-you guys!

My car is a little over 25,000 miles. I get regular oil changes done to it. I haven’t rotated the tires once (oops.)

Some coupons came in from the dealership offering deals on maintenance to my car. The problem is that the costs involved are only "checking," not actually replacing the part.

I have a coupon for tire rotation .35

Four wheel alignment .95…..check steering, suspension and shocks. Set toe-in, camber and caster (where applicable.) Check tie-rods and ball joints. Check tire pressure and inspect tires for cuts, damage, and uneven wear. Plus tax.

Mainenance Special .95…..Change engine oil, filter. Rotate tires. Inspect air filter & Brake system.

I also notice that my car, when I hit bumps/potholes, makes a large rattling, especially in the front right. My friends and family say my car sounds like crap when I hit any kind of bump.

Also, sometimes when I brake, I hear a light knocking coming from the front, my brake pedal is fine, it’s just coming from where the tires are I think.

So, please give me advice. Which coupon(s) should I /need I use, and do you think they can check the rattling since my car is still under warranty?

Thanks!

I have a 2000 Ford Police Interceptor with 75k miles and it due for an oil change. I was wondering what would be the best oil filter for it (without spending a fortune). How much does the Ford one cost? And what other brands are pretty good? I heard Fram and K&N are crap so I was considering Mobil 1 or ACDelco Oil Filters. Also, should I go with Quaker State 5w30 or get high mileage oil from another brand (Castrol, Mobil, etc.)? Definitely want synthetic. Well, thanks.

I have to say, I’ve been getting a lot of notices lately telling me how happy I should be to be involved in a class action suit against so and so for such and such.

The latest one, today in fact, was from a scummy lawyer in Florida who is suing "on my behalf" valvoline instant oil changes for their "enviornmental service fees". He is claiming 250,000.00 for "us" and 1,044,000.00 for himself/his firm.

Oh, and the 250,000.00 is shared by everyone who’s gotten an oil change in the last year or 2 via a .00 off coupon.

So, I get a 5 dollar coupon, he gets 1.04 million dollars.

Now I see bayer is being sued, again, on my behalf, over some alleged price fixing on rubber chemicals, making prices of rubber items go up. Lawyers are seeking 4.2 million, 1/3 of which goes to them with an additional "service fee" of 1,500.00 per person they’re representing. On top of that, you don’t have to do anything to be represented, but you DO have to request NOT to be.
This suit is in 7 or 8 states. So, how do they know who bought rubber products? I would assume anyone over 18 years old, or maybe even younger, has. So, they are getting 1,500.00 for every person in each state??? I don’t get it.

EIther way, I think this craps gotta stop, what do you guys think?
Nor do I feel sorry for the giant companies, I guess my point is, these idiots are claiming to sue on "MY BEHALF" when that is a crock of crap and a half. They just want the 1.4 million, so they come up with whatever they can and claim they’re doing it for the public.

It’s a big fat lie and they’re getting rich by using my name and your names.

We had a 1993 Saturn a couple of years ago. It was excellent on gas (about 500 miles on full), had enough room for my kids, and drove awesome.
Problem: Started burning oil, the oil started leaking out of the valve cover, the O2 went out, and ultimately died for good, even despite our best efforts to save it.
My husband speaks of the car as a curse…he changed the valve cover two times, the gasket 6 times….you get the picture. He was not impressed.
I want to get a Saturn again because everything we have driven since then has not measured up to the ride and the gas consumption. He refuses to get tangled in another one…
If you know of a reliable one with good reviews, it would help my case…
Absolutely nothing with DOHC as he believes this is the problem…
Also, if there is really no such thing as a good Saturn, maybe you could reccomend a vehicle with good gas mileage, nice ride etc that does not cost too much…
My husband is ASE certified, so he does know what he is doing. The trouble was there were no real gaskets…ie; cork etc. It was a tube of crap that did not bond correctly. It was not the PCV, wich has nothing to do with the cyllinders leaking oil. DOHC he will not deal with again in a car WE own because it was so tight and hard to get to everything he needed to reach. I should have stated that the reason the valve cover had to be replaced twice was because the timing chain ate through the aluminum, due to the left holder busting and then the bottom one. I do not want to know what was wrong with the other one as it is a moot point. I was merely asking for a Saturn that has a good reputation and if not then a reccomendation for a different car.
    Thank you.
