im looking to buy this mustang for 00. the year is 2000 and it has 90000 miles on it. transmission is manual.

Has New rims and racing tires 18 inch,
New Clutch plate,
New Stereo with 8 inch hide away Touch Screen
New Fuel Pump
New Headers
New Alternator only 2 months old
New Battery
Dual Exhaust
Cold Air Intake
Full Tune up was done.. new spark plugs and wires, oil changed to synthetic, polished headlights.

BUT!
air condition compressor is broken. the man says he has one to replace it but i just need to install it.
how much do you think it would cost to install it, and what are the chances that this man’s "replacement" is the wrong type of compressor? and is this a good deal? give me opinions! :)

I just recently had an oil change, like a little over a month ago. Two weeks ago I went to start my car and heard all of this loud "knocking" noise. I checked my oil and there as hardly any in there. I have not had an oil leak . I can tell this because I park in the same parking spot at home and work, neither spots have oil stains in them. I do not believe it is burning up in my engine because I have had a car that did this and I know that you almost always can smell it when it is burning. I believe that they did not refill my oil level when doing the oil change at their station. I called them and they were extremely rude to me and suggested I just "through a quart in there" and drive it a half hour away so they can check it. Luckily, I got advice from a friend not to take it anywhere without putting the required amount of oil in it first. But now the engine does not run like it used to. Is there anything I can do about this? Shouldn’t the garage I took it to be responsible?

About 8 months ago, my wife changed the oil on my car at the Jiffy Lube and they apparently let it go with no oil:( The car has no major oil leaks (and no burn) and has only been driven about 5K miles since then. It has less than 83K miles on it now. It’s a SAAB and apparently has a good engine since it went this long before blowing up. Well, I know I have a fight on my hands as these dirtbags are already saying 8 months passed, blah blah. I have the oil filter with their tag and initials still attached as the "tech" let the car go off with no oil :( Can anyone give me some tips on getting these scumbags to cover the damage? It’s way more than the car is worth and I just paid over 00 for body damage on it from a small accident. They shouldn’t be able to get away with not putting oil in the car.
Also, I realize that she should have checked/changed the oil in the past 8 months again. However, the car doesn’t lose oil so this should not absolve them of their responsibility to do a proper job and not ruin engines by letting them off with little or no oil!?
To the retards who say it won’t run without oil. You don’t know WTF you are babbling about. Most oil change places do NOT full drain the oil. Plus there is oil in the filter. Obviously the car had SOME oil in it as it wasn’t flushed. Geesh.. this sort of thing happens all the time with Jiffy Lubes. It just sucks when you have a good car engine well maintained with synth previously like mine because it WILL go for many miles without breaking. I had some small knocking noise but I didn’t realize she hadn’t checked the oil and of course didn’t realize they never filled it.
YES! Many modern cars will run almost indefinitely with very LITTLE oil. Obviously YA! has the kind of "smart" people that work at the Jiffy Lube leaving off plugs, and not filling back up engine oil :(
It’s called OIL STARVATION nitwits. READ UP. LEARN. Go to the Jiffy Lube with your car and find out about how they can screw you over or better yet watch them do it.

The oil light came on within a few miles of the car blowing up. Again you people don’t know sh*t! The oil "light" is really a "DOOM" light in most cars. It comes on AFTER you are pretty much screwed. You can drive with dangerous low oil for a long time and never see an oil light until it’s way too late. Which is what hapenned here.

In my fleet of vehicles I have security vehicles that drive less than 100 miles per day but typically run 20 hours per day. (Lots or low speed driving and idling.) Should I stick to the "every 3000 mile rule" or should I have the oil change based on hour many hours the engine has been running?

Hi i have a VW 1969 Bug, I using Castrol GTX 20W-50. The engine oil seems to be black now. After running for 5-10 min for 60-70 kph, on sudden accelerations i hear a noise from the engine which is like "shaking some iron balls in Coke Can". I heard that this sounds comes due to engine is not getting cold properly. So is this some thing to do with the Engine OIL ? cause i guess VW engines use air and oil to cool it self.

I just brought my car in for an oil change and lube service. The place I go to is pretty good about service and repairs in that I can drop my car off in the day, and pick it up in the early evening for service other than oil changes.

However, I noticed that several times (today included), the mechanic would call and say something like "We did the oil change, but noticed the other fluids could use a change — coolant, transmission, power steering."

When they say that, are they being good mechanics by watching out to keep the cars they serve in tip-top shape or are they just giving a soft sell to make extra services?

Would love to hear from other customers and if you work(ed) as a mechanic and have any inside knowledge. Thanks.

This is on North Harlem Ave in Chicago. First of all the tried to get me to pay extra for all the stuff that "needs" to be serviced. They put 2 gaskets on my oil filter which started spraying oil all over the ground the moment they started the car. They put the wrong tire pressure which is clearly shown on the side of the door of every car! Stay away from this place. They will put whatever the want in your car instead of the right stuff. If you do go there, don’t go sit at the waiting area. Be right next to your car and make sure they are doing the right things and ASK what are they doing.

Better yet, if you have a garage, change your own oil and filter. I don’t have a garage so i have to deal with these monkeys.

Imagine I drove on the highway with the oil filter spraying my oil all over the place. My engine would’ve been severely damaged.
I decided to take the car to a local shop to have them redo the oil change and check for any more F-ups from jiffy idiots and this is what the guy found:

They didn’t use the right oil filter and didn’t cleaned the area where build up occurs. They put 6 quarts of oil instead of 5. The tire pressure that I had resquested was different on all 4 tires.

NEVER EVER GO TO JIFFY LUBE

The don’t-buy-gasoline on May 15th boycott really doesn’t solve the problem does it? I mean, we still have to buy the same amount of gasoline unless we change our driving habits. What about buying only a half-tank at a time and reducing our driving to create a surplus thus forcing oil companies to lower prices?
Hootie…sorry but I don’t agree. The May 15th boycott was public. And, remember the beef, coffee, and sugar boycotts. No one was charged.

The "manipulating the marketplace" laws apply to companies who conspire to control prices and supplies of commodities/products.

First off, I am not a big car person. If the car gets me where I need to go and has good gas mileage then I am happy.

I take my oil to get changed about 4 times a year at the local Jiffy Lube. Everytime I bring them my car they also are telling me these things that the manufacturer supposedly recommends for the car at its current mileage. The problem is, is that these things usually add up to cost about 0-0. I never get any of those "recommended" things done, because I feel like they are trying to mislead me because I am a woman. Aside from that, the car is only worth about 00. I am not going to put 00 into the car every year. That just doesn’t make any sense.

What do you think? Has anyone ever had this done to them before?

I have a 2007 Honda Civic with about 27000 miles on it. I am the only owner. I haven’t really done anything with servicing it, other than regular oil changes at Jiffy Lube. What kind of maintenance is my car due for? I think I should have the tires rotated, but do I also need to have them balanced? My service place is charging an extra to balance them also. There’s so many "suggested" maintenance processes out there, and I have no idea what is actually needed. Thanks!

I am looking for a GOOD, reliable place to get oil changed.

Not a place like ‘EZ Lube" that tries to trick you into buying other services that aren’t needed.

Where’s the best place for quality, service, and value?

I was thinking if anyone has any experience with Wal-Mart’s brand of motor oil called "Super Tech". Its cheap & I was thinking of using it for my car for the next oil change.

I usually use Mobil 5W30 but the price difference is huge compared to the ‘Super Tech’ brand. Any comments?. Thank you.

Did they shorten my RNS intentionally so that i would be there more often?
Where are the flaws in my logic?
            How should i proceed?

Today I went to an Ez Lube location for an oil change, been doing so for the past three times.
When it comes to cars I consider myself to be the most unpractical person.
After i got home while looking at my receipt
I noticed that the "recommended next service(RNS)" was much shorter than the previous times.
            For example;
first time i went there the RNS was for 4 months or 5,000 miles.
            second time exactly the same,
but today it was 4 months or 3,000 miles
Same oil used the three times.

Now I should explain my concern.
This is an 1997 F150 which i use regularly but never excessively,
it does an average of 480 miles a month,
if i follow the every 3000 miles the RNS would be in 6 months
If I instead follow the previous 5000 miles RNS it would be around 10 months without an oil change.
I neither do the oil change at 4 months or 10 months,
but somewhere in around 4000 miles which is 7-8 months
Most of the fluids have been changed in the past 7 months

            Other factors to consider?

            I live in SoCal,
            truck rarely sees any rain
            garaged most of the time
miles on the engine are mostly highway miles. about 300 out of 480
heaviest it’s ever been loaded was with a stove and fridge for around 25 mins

The employee tried to up sell some more services but i declined
            Air filter
            and Cleaning the headlamps

            thanks.
