Archive for 'tire rotation'

I just had my 2003 Dodge Neon serviced at a Jiffy Lube (oil change, tire rotation). Since then, my steering wheel vibrates quite severely once I reach about 60 MPH. The vibration happens cyclically, going from minor, to moderate, to severe, then back down to moderate then minor (and repeat). Each cycle takes about 2-3 seconds, and is accompanied by a rumbling noise that follows the same cyclical severity.

This isn’t a normal symptom of tire rotation, is it? Should I just take it back to Jiffy Lube and let them know what’s going on? Thanks.

I desperately need help with this problem. Can someone show how it is done. I would highly appreciate. Thank you. I have a site added to this below so you can see the picture of the window and dialog box of what it is suppose to look like. see below

RapidLube is a fast growing franchise that offers tremendous value for customers
needing automotive maintenance services. Their current price list inclusive of all taxes
(in USD) is as follows:
Oil Change:
· Natural : 19.95
· Blend: 39.95
· Synthetic: 49.95
Tire Rotation: 60.00
Muffler Replacement: 225.00
Transmission Flush: 65.00
Radiator Flush: 35.00
In order to reward regular customers, the chain also offers a 10% discount off the total
price.
You are tasked with creating a GUI application (RapidLubeUI) to be used at their
Point of Sale (POS) terminals with the following suggested specifications.
The main application will open with a window as shown below with minimum size of
600×200 pixels. Note the use of banner at the top and the buttons at the bottom. The main
work area consists of sections: one for customer info, another for oil change and the third
for maintenance services offered by Rapid Lube.
http://www.flickr.com/photos/65696160@N03/5983007558/in/photostream ( see here for window)
The customer may optionally pick at most one type of oil change. However, a particular
job may contain of any combination of maintenance items like Tire Rotation,
Transmission Flush etc.
The user interface will provide a quick way to estimate the total for a job. Clicking on the
estimate button should bring up a dialog as follows detailing the estimated costs.
http://www.flickr.com/photos/65696160@N03/5983007582/in/photostream (see here for dialog box)
A regular customer discount of 10% must be offered if the Regular Customer item is
checked.
The customer name cannot be empty for checkout. When the customer checks out,
clicking on the checkout button will log the job (append data line) to a file named
SalesLog.txt with following information: Timestamp, customer name and total
amount as shown below.
2010-Nov-29 08:45:31 AM, John Doe, 244.95
Clicking on the exit button exits the application.
NOTES:
1. All dollar amounts presented should be restricted to two decimal places.
2. Use of automated UI generating wizards is prohibited for this assignment
3. You can use multiple classes as a project. In this case make sure you submit all
project files in a single jar file.

my car has 3,100 miles. it’s a dodge avenger 08.
they got like a service for 21 that includes filter change, oil change and lube.

what exactly is lube? do they lube up my car joints or whatever? like on the doors?

they also have a 25$ service.

it’s like oil change, filter change, and tire rotation.

i have 3,000 miles do i need rotations? also the people at fire stone checked my tires. i am paranoid they aren’t that smart.

right now im a bit paranoid about technicians cuz some love to cut corners.

the dealership was evil when they were selling the car to me. they tried to sell me the car with the msrp for tax and not the final price we talked about. plus they tried to make me pay 2,000 for dealer add ons. can i trust their technicians to service my car or should i go to a local dealership?

Tires are a really big expense when it comes to your vehicle.  With that said, it is suffice to say that tires require meticulous care.  We are living in difficult times and want to get the most out of almost everything we purchase while still maintaining the utmost amount of security.  Tire balancing, tire rotation and tire pressure are the most essential factors of proper tire care.

Tire balancing is outlined as the distribution of mass within the automobile’s tire and/or the wheel in which it is secured on. If the tires weight isn’t evenly distributed, it can cause vibrations while traveling or the vehicle may pull to the left side or right side. Not only can this become irritating, it can cause premature wear on specific components of your automobile or on your tires.   The vibrations can be caused by the slightest weight imbalance and can be adjusted by a special equipment. A tire balancing appliance can make changes as small as a quarter of an ounce (which is many times lighter in weight than a drop of H2O) by putting a small weight on the tire to make sure it spins “accurate” (meaning it doesn’t wobble.)  This is commonly performed at the time new tires are bought and set up, but ought to be checked at every tire rotation. Tire rotation is closely connected to tire balancing.

Tire rotation can be accomplished by moving the tires location on the car to another. This assures even tire wear. Wear is mainly caused because there is much more weight on the front axle of a car than the rear axle (most engines are in the front of the car.)  By rotating tires, the wear on front tires is minimized.  Auto Makers suggest rotation be done in a specific pattern for the best possible results. The pattern depends on if the car is front or rear-wheel drive.  The most common pattern for front-wheel drive cars is moving the front tires straight back to the rear and transferring the rear tires to the reverse sides on the front. Rear-wheel drive autos have a similar pattern. You move the rear tires straight to the front and the front tires to the reverse sides of the rear. It is advised to have the tires rotated about every 6,000 miles (every other oil change).

Tire pressure additionally plays in an essential part in the function of tires.  Tire pressure is the amount of air in every tire. If the tires contain an improper volume of pressure (whether too much or too little), a myriad of difficulties can happen.  Tire pressure directly impacts the car’s cornering, braking, stability and gas effectiveness. It is advisable that tire pressure be checked at least once a month.

Every individual who drives a car has a responsibility to themselves, their passengers and everyone else on the road to make sure their tires are correctly maintained. While they can examine tire pressure and rotate on their own tires, tire balancing must be done by a expert because rotating and balancing ought to be carried out at the same time it’s easier to just have a expert do both.

I just got the signature oil change at my local Jiffy Lube on Street Road in Bensalem, PA. I drive a 2001 Buick Century Limited with 189k miles with original parts, and I am the second owner. After reading the horror stories about Jiffy Lube, I went there anyway because I needed an oil change, and under the "Service Comments", it says "Arrival: Minor Oil Leak" and "Arrival: Minor Transmission Leak"

It also says lists the following:

MFG Recommends Transmission Service, Coolant Service, Fuel Filter Service, and Tire Rotation.

As well as stating on the bottom of the Service Comments Box

    "Trans Over Fill PTS"

Lastly, the service checklist also tells me that my brake fluid is low.

What does all of this mean/entail, and how serious is that assessment?

My car is a little over 25,000 miles. I get regular oil changes done to it. I haven’t rotated the tires once (oops.)

Some coupons came in from the dealership offering deals on maintenance to my car. The problem is that the costs involved are only "checking," not actually replacing the part.

I have a coupon for tire rotation .35

Four wheel alignment .95…..check steering, suspension and shocks. Set toe-in, camber and caster (where applicable.) Check tie-rods and ball joints. Check tire pressure and inspect tires for cuts, damage, and uneven wear. Plus tax.

Mainenance Special .95…..Change engine oil, filter. Rotate tires. Inspect air filter & Brake system.

I also notice that my car, when I hit bumps/potholes, makes a large rattling, especially in the front right. My friends and family say my car sounds like crap when I hit any kind of bump.

Also, sometimes when I brake, I hear a light knocking coming from the front, my brake pedal is fine, it’s just coming from where the tires are I think.

So, please give me advice. Which coupon(s) should I /need I use, and do you think they can check the rattling since my car is still under warranty?

    Thanks!

My jeep has 90,000 miles and I haven’t really thought about maintenance til now. I get regular oil changes but that’s about it. I was thinking about the following: tire rotation and balance, tune up, battery check, brakes? I don’t recall that we have ever gotten any of those done and we got it used at 60,000 miles. Also, how do you know when you buy the tire rotation if they do a balance and alignment as well – are those both good to get / needed? What’s important during a tune up? I have a coupon and it says it does: install new spark plug ; visually inspect ignition wires, distributor cap/rotor, filters and more ; set timing/adjust idle (if applicable) but I’m scared that if something is wrong they wouldn’t fix it cuz they would charge extra since it just says visibly inspect

I had my tyres rotated and an oil change done, and two tires fell off 3 miles later. I called the manager and he said it’s not their fault. I hit a tree and have severe body damage to my Lexus. I dont think it’s fair for them not to admit guilt, should they give me a free oil change and tire rotation coupon for my troubles?

I tried to get an alignment and the dealer refused because the tie rods were worn and he charged us like to look at the car. I have a coupon for oil change with tire rotation and balance, i can do the oil change but i am more interested in the rotation. Will the dealer refuse to do any maintenance such as this because of worn parts?

Ok, I’ve even looked on the Texas DPS site and reviewed what should be inspected for the inspection sticker. My check engine light was on for a bit, but then went off a few days before I took in my car to get my inspection sticker. The guy came to me and said they couldn’t pass it because the check engine light came on.

Now, so you understand the whole situation, about a month ago I took it to these guys to get an oil change, tire rotation etc. My check engine light was NOT on when I took it in. When I left the light was on. When I took it back, they reset it and it didn’t come on for a couple of days, but then it came back on. They said they would reset it and I never went back in and then after it went off again, I just didn’t worry about it.

So when they told me about the check engine light being back on I threw a fit because it wasn’t on before that guy looked at it and explained what previously happened. They cleared it and told me I had to drive about 80 miles to let the car go through a couple of cycles or what ever. I’ve never heard of that, but benefit of the doubt as I am not a mechanic. So I drove it about 100 miles and took it back in.

The guy tells me that the computer is still registering 2 of the 15 "screens" and to pass it can only register 1. So he has his tech drive it a bit more and it still didn’t work and then he told me to drive it some more and come back. I feel like I am being jacked around. I’ve never heard of a car not being able to pass the inspection due to anything relating to the check engine light.

      Thoughts?

I bought a GMC Jimmy and reading reviews and people were complaining after saying they changed oil every 3 thousand.and now have 200,00 miles. What about tune-ups, tranny service, injecter cleaning, tire rotation, alignment, shifting while leaving foot on clutch all the time. Every car comes with suggested maintenance and if done most problems would be avoided. 200,000 for someone who only changes oil and is a GMC is good miles and are lucky. Why do people make such an ignorant comment when it is their fault.
