I bought an ’08 Chevy Aveo LS (4-door) in December. I had the oil changed at 36,500 and I’m reaching 39,500. I’ve been getting mixed reviews from auto companies on when to change the oil in my vehicle. Some say every 3,000, some say different. I had a cylinder recently replaced, the air filter changed, and have newer tires.
Any thoughts?

every 3000 miles is what is recommended but up to 5000 is completly fine…synthetic oil os best for higher mileage cars but is a bit more expensive. Dont let the shop talk you into a bunch of un needed crap…as long as you change the oil regularly, there is no need to buy the most expensive oil package.
I think most mechanics recommend changing your oil every 3,000 miles.
Even regular/conventional oil is fine past 3K miles. The standard is 3K but if you go upwards of 4K you’re still fine, you won’t hurt anything.
Read your owners manual , it will have a schedule that will guide you on oil change intervals, but remember to qualify the interval with the type of driving you do.
EVERY 3000 MILES

If any one of these is true for you, use the short trip/city maintenance schedule:
• Most trips are less than 5 miles (8 km). This is particularly important when outside temperatures
are below freezing.
• Most trips include extensive idling, such as frequent driving in stop-and-go traffic.
• You frequently use a carrier on top of your vehicle.
• The vehicle is used for delivery service, police, taxi, or other commercial application. Driving under these conditions causes engine oil to break down sooner.
If any one of these is true for your vehicle, you need to change the oil and filter every 3,000 miles (5 000 km) or 3 months, whichever occurs first. If none of them is true, use the long trip/highway maintenance schedule. Change the oil and filter every 7,500 miles (12 500 km) or 12 months, whichever occurs first. Driving a vehicle with a fully warmed engine under highway conditions will cause engine oil to break down slower.
This information is right out of your owners manual (5-16). Hope this information helps!
